BookBook App Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains how the BookBook App (hereinafter "the App") handles information related to you during the provision of services. Please read and understand this policy carefully before using the App.

1. Information the App Handles

1.1 Data You Actively Enter

Content:

• Book data: title, author, publisher, ISBN, cover image, category, notes, etc.
• Reading data: start/end time, duration, reading count, status, etc.
• Other fields related to physical book management and reading records.

How it is handled:

• All data is stored locally on your device and is never uploaded to the developer's servers or any third party.
• Used solely to fulfill the App's core functions: physical book management, reading records and statistics.

1.2 Server-Side Query Logs

Content: When you use features involving ISBN scanning, such as scanning to add books or scanning to start reading, the App sends the ISBN number to a cloud service operated by the developer for book information lookup. The cloud service may record query timestamps, ISBN numbers, and API call results as technical logs.

How it is handled: These logs are used solely for service quality monitoring and troubleshooting. They contain no personal identity information (no device ID, username, or other identifiable data is transmitted).

Beyond the above, the App does not actively collect or require you to provide sensitive personal information such as name, phone number, ID number, bank card number, contacts, call records, or precise location.

1.3 Device Permissions

To enable specific features, the App may use the following device permissions with your authorization:

• Camera: Used for scanning book barcodes (ISBN), taking book cover photos, and performing OCR text recognition for reading notes. Only activated when you initiate scanning or photo capture; never used in the background.
• Photo Library (Read): Used for selecting images from your photo library as book covers. Only accessed when you actively choose an image.
• Photo Library (Write): Used for saving clipping images to your photo library. Only writes when you actively perform a save action.

All permissions are requested upon first use. You can revoke them at any time in your device's Settings.

2. Information Storage and Protection

2.1 Storage Location: Your data is stored locally on your device using SwiftData.

2.2 Storage Period: Data is retained while you continue to use the App. When you delete books, the books and their associated reading records are permanently removed. The App also provides a separate recycle bin feature where you can move books to the recycle bin; books in the recycle bin are automatically cleaned after 30 days.

2.3 Security Measures:

• We protect data security through the device's native encryption and access control mechanisms.
• However, due to technical and network limitations, absolute data security cannot be guaranteed under all circumstances.
• Data loss, corruption, or inability to recover caused by force majeure, device failure, or software defects is not the developer's liability.
• If you have high data security requirements, we recommend regular data export for backup.

3. Information Processing, Sharing and Transfer

3.1 Information Processing: Your data is processed only on your device for the following purposes:

• Display your collection data and reading records;
• Calculate and display your reading duration, count, and other statistics;
• Troubleshoot system failures and optimize App functionality and performance.

3.2 Information Sharing and Transfer:

• We will not sell or share your data with any third party, unless required by law, judicial process, or mandatory requirements of competent authorities.
• Without your consent, we will not transfer your information to any third party.

3.3 Public Disclosure: We will not publicly disclose information related to you personally, unless required by mandatory legal requirements or competent authority directives.

4. Third-Party Services

4.1 ISBN Query Service: When using features involving ISBN scanning (such as scanning to add books or scanning to start reading), the App sends the ISBN number to a cloud service operated by the developer, which then forwards it to third-party book information services for lookup. Only the ISBN number is transmitted; no personal identity information is included.

4.2 Apple Services: The App may use Apple services including StoreKit (subscription management), Live Activities (lock screen reading timer), etc. Your use of these features is also subject to Apple's service agreements and privacy policy.

5. Your Rights

During your use of the App, you have the following rights over your data:

• Access and Correction: You can view, modify, or delete book and reading records you've entered through the App interface.
• Right to Delete Data: You can delete some or all data through the App's data management features.
• Right to Stop Use: You can stop using the App at any time. Your local data will be retained on the device; you can clear it through the data management page.

6. Minors Protection

6.1 If you are a minor, you should use this App with the consent and guidance of your guardian.

6.2 If you are a guardian and discover that a minor under your care used this App without your consent, you can contact us through the contact methods provided in the App.

7. Policy Changes

7.1 We may update this privacy policy as features are adjusted or laws and regulations change.

7.2 For significant changes, we will notify you prominently within the App.

7.3 If you continue to use the App after the policy changes, it is deemed that you have read and agreed to the updated privacy policy.
